History of the Packs

For centuries, the wolves lived in peace. There were eight packs, each with their own power over an element. To keep the peace, the Alpha pairs of each pack gathered, and appointed one strong and mighty wolf to be the High Alpha, reigning over all the other packs. This wolf took the strongest from each pack and formed his own pack, called the High Alpha Pack. The High Alpha was granted two new powers in addition to his original power, through a very hard and painful method. When he died, a new High Alpha was chosen, and also granted two new powers. This system continued, and it worked well for a while. That is, until about fifty years ago…

Shadow Pack
A wolf was born in the High Alpha Pack with strange powers. He was named Shadow, after the element he controlled. His ambition was great, and he wanted nothing more than to rule as the High Alpha. He was well on his way to reach his goal, and once he was High Alpha, he was planning to bring the packs together so that he could take control over all of Sorika.

But he was found out. The current High Alpha and Shadow locked in a furious battle, in which the High Alpha won. He banished Shadow from the pack, but before he left, he swore he would one day rule the land. He found a mate and his offspring shared his powers. Thus the Shadow Pack was born, and they grew in number as more wolves with Shadow Powers were found from distant lands. Shadow ruled them until he died, and when that happened, another wolf took over. The Shadow Pack began attacking the other packs, taking them down one by one.
Status: Ruling.

High Alpha Pack
The High Alpha Pack had no idea that the Shadow Pack was forming. The wolves were too used to the peace, and they were not prepared when the Shadow Wolves attacked. They fought hard, but years of lacking the need to fight had made their skills rusty. The High Alpha fought hard alongside his pack, but one by one, the wolves were slain. The High Alpha was forced to flee, and no one has heard from him since. A few wolves survived the attack, and either left to be loners, or joined the Shadow Pack. Many wolves feel betrayed by the High Alpha Pack, because they were so easily defeated. The High Alpha has also been called a coward by many different wolves, because he hasn't been heard from since.
Status: Wiped out.

Pack of Speed
This pack has always been one of the smaller ones. They were usually a bit nomadic, moving their camps often in their own territory. Because of their powers over speed, they could easily outrun any enemy that tried to attack. But the Shadow Wolves managed to outsmart them. They drove them out of their camp, and left an ambush on the other side, so the Speed Wolves ran straight into the jaws of more bloodthirsty Shadow Wolves. Being one of the smaller packs, they were extremely outnumbered. They didn’t stand a chance. Despite this, they tried their hardest to keep up their defense. Almost all of the Speed Wolves were killed. Just the Alpha survived, and he disappeared, too, presumed dead.
Status: Wiped out.

Pack of Healing
The Pack of Healing used to be one of the most powerful packs, because of their ability to heal their own wounds. They could fight well, too. They were a large pack, and had a high status among the other packs. No one dared attack them. That is, except for the Shadow Pack. The Pack of Healing matched the numbers of the Shadow Pack, but the Shadow Wolves had no sense of honor, as the Healing Wolves did. They took advantage of everything they could, while the Healing Wolves did their best to fight fair. The Healing Wolves were soon losing, and many fled the scene. The survivors ran into the Earth Pack, who took them in immediately. They have lived there ever since, trying to forget the pack they once ruled under.
Status: Most wiped out, some with Earth Pack.

Earth Pack
The Earth Wolves are fierce fighters, and they will stand up to anything they feel isn’t right. They were among the first to oppose the Shadow Pack, also making them their first enemies. The Alpha of the pack, Stone, led his pack into battle, raiding the Shadow Pack camp. The results were disastrous. About half of the Earth Wolves were killed, including Stone himself. His son, Granite, took over the pack, ordering a retreat. They fled back to their own territory. Granite had a different personality than his father, and he decided that it would be best to leave the Shadow Wolves alone. Most of the pack wolves disagreed, but they didn’t push the issue. A few weeks later, a bunch of Healing Wolves showed up in their territory, all beat up and in need of a new home. The Earth Pack took them in.
Status: Strong, but cautious. They keep away from Shadow Wolves.

Psychic Pack
This pack used to be almost more powerful than the High Alpha Pack. They were always very arrogant, believing themselves to be more powerful than the other wolves, because they could do more with their minds. Once the Shadow Wolves appeared and starting wreaking havoc, some wolves begged them to help. But the Psychic Wolves turned up their noses and went into hiding. No one has heard from them in years. They've been gone for so long, some wolves have forgotten they ever existed, and they've become nothing but a legend...
Status: Unknown

Water Pack
The Water Pack was always one of the smaller packs. One of the previous Shadow Alpha had a grudge against them, thus, they were one of the primary targets. They were attacked often, and the area they lived in was a very perilous place. However, they refused to change places. This was their home, and they were going to fight for their right to live there. Once that Shadow Alpha died, they were finally left in peace for a while, and a new Water Alpha decided to shift their home just a little bit, going from the bay at the beginning of the peninsula, to the tip of it. They haven’t been bothered by the Shadow Wolves as much since.
Status: Alive and well.

Thunder Pack
The Thunder Pack has always been a strong pack. The wolves were usually build for power, and they had excellent defense. They know of the Shadow Pack, but they haven't been attacked, yet. A severe illness attacked them, leaving many dead and many more weak. When they heard of the Shadow Pack, they knew that they would never be able to hold their own against them due to their smaller numbers from the sicnkess. They now travel around the mountain that they call home, avoiding the Shadow Pack whenever they can.
Status: Weakened from illness, left alone by Shadow Wolves.
